The collection of head pieces each reflects on my inner sub-conscious that allows one to dream away by presenting an identity different from the one you see in real life. I was inspired by the thoughts behind surrealism and how we can use objects to tap into the depths of dreams and the unconscious. The head pieces made from eyes changes is a character freeing her self from gender expectations and taps into self-identity.

Whitney Chadwick notes in LACMA’s catalogue In Wonderland: The Surrealist Adventures of Women Artists in Mexico and the United States, the companion to the museum’s 2012 exhibition; “Surrealism’s legacy included a model for creative practices that encouraged many women to adapt its principles in their search to link artistic self-identity to the realities of gender and female sexuality.”
